School is where i discovered my love for obscure and off beat themed work. I wanted to convey messages and i developed this into an often symbolic or more conceptual language of my own. Next, i volunteered at Antwology, doing band and live photography, where I learned so much about shooting events and live gigs. And i got to meet a lot of amazing people, see backstages and off course lots of crazy mosh pits.
After school reality hit and it hit me really hard, i had to transform my arty_free self into a corporate responsible entrepreneur. Let us say, this didn’t happen overnight. And it made me abandon my darker side for a while.
Often enough the desire to create beautiful dark images rises. Whether it is beauty/fashion oriented or more conceptual, i really would like my focus to be untainted by commercialism. To find my freedom again.
This inspired me to make a new brand, naming Ellie Furia. Through this brand i want to focus more on alternative work..less commercial and more dark. Thus my link with Althemy, where i love the initiative these guys are taking to link up the whole alternative goth/metal/punk/cosplay scene into one big supporting community.
Even though i have physically surpassed the gothic look, i still feel very attached to the imagery and fantasy behind it all. Some influences from childhood that I adore would be Edward Scissorhands, The Neverending story, Interview with a vampire, Devils Advocate, Tim Burton Batman Movies, Labyrinth, Star wars, Star Trek, Chris Cunningham, ... or Artists like Marina Abramovic, Eugenio Recuenco, Eduard Munch, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Pre-rafaelites, Gregory Crewdson, Miles Aldridge, Frida Kahlo, Delveaux, Magritte, Salvador Dali and many many more.
... as you can see many things influence me.

You don't have to look like a goth to be a goth at heart. Don't sweat the insignificant details and just keep doing what you're doing... it's awesome! :)
